“Often people attempt to live their lives backwards;
they try to have more things, or more money,
in order to do more of what they want,
so they will be happier.
The way it actually works is the reverse.
You must first be who you really are,
then do what you need to do,
in order to have what you want.”—Margaret Young
“Do not pick of the sword unless you are willing to take it on full throttle. If You’re going to pick it up. Take it, love it, eat it, smell it, shit it, live it. That’s it.”—Amal Baji Hubert (“Baji”), trumpet, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
For it’s strong enough to wash away my sins And it’s pure enough To cleanse me deep within And it’s real enough To find me when I’m lost Great enough To die upon the cross It doesn’t matter what color you are As long as your blood was red
Oh, the cleansing power That takes the guilt away The Lamb was sacrificed now we No longer fear the grave No more condemnation The debt of man is paid By the Blood
“A revolutionary woman can’t have no reactionary man. If he’s not about liberation, if he’s not about struggle, if he ain’t about building a strong Black family, if he ain’t about building a strong Black nation, then he ain’t about nothing.”—Assata Shakur (via afrosoul)
Because you never know where life is gonna take you and you can’t change where you’ve been. But today, I have the opportunity to choose.
(And I choose) to be the best that I can be. (I choose) to be authentic in everything I do. My past don’t dictate who I am. I choose.
(And I choose) to be the best that I can be. (I choose) to be courageous in everything I do. My past don’t dictate who I am. I choose.
Because you never know where life is gonna take you and you can’t change where you’ve been. But today, I have the opportunity to choose. (Hey ey) I used to have guilt about why things happen they way they did cuz life is gone do what it do. And everyday, I have the opportunity to choose.
Fact : The hands of a clock move only in one direction. Time only moves in one direction. Life shouldn't be wasted on trying to recreate/fix the past, rather should it be consumed making our future brighter.
“At bottom every man knows well enough that he is a unique being, only once on this earth; and by no extraordinary chance will such a marvellously picturesque piece of diversity in unity as he is, ever be put together a second time.”—Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
